Honorable Mention for Feature Films Competition to “This is my land… Hebron” by Giulia Amati and Stephen Natanson, for the way that they present the problem of a territorial conflict by including the two communities that are involved, both Muslims and Jewish people, and the way in which they manage to bring light to the brutal oppression, harassment, violence and expulsion of which the State is responsible. In the name of religious rights, the State justifies the violation of the most basic human rights of a pacific population that is the majority, condemning them to degrading life conditions and confinement for their ethnicity. The film is a call to the world to place their focus on this distant corner of our planet that has more than 5000 years of history, and it makes us reflect on human conflict and its ethical limitations in a social, political and military context of extreme violence.
Honorable Mention for Short and Medium-Length Film Competition to “Guañape Sur” by János Richter for their ability to express in a poetic way the work oppression the poor sectors of Peru experience, by being very meticulous with all of the technical and aesthetic resources. With delicate camera work, an excellent soundtrack and the inclusion of pertinent dialogues, the film takes the viewer to that place, that because of its isolation, it is presented as metaphor for confinement.
Honorable Mention for Argentinian Documentary Film Competition to “Lunas Cautivas” by Marcia Paradiso, for the respectful and sensitive way in which they presented a problem that is made invisible. This way, the film shows the construction of a collective work space by the poetic expression of the women involved and transports them and the viewer outside the walls of their prison.
