Deadline extended, an open invitation to participate in the 16th International Human Rights Film Festival in Buenos Aires

The Instituto Multimedia DerHumALC (IMD) is pleased to announce to directors, producers and national and international distributors that up until the 26th of January 2015 we will be accepting films for the 16th International Human Rights Film Festival.
This competitive cinematographic event will take place in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina, from the 17th to the 24th of June 2015. The program for the event will be released in May of 2015.
The objective of the International Human Rights Film Festival is to present the best films that relate to social problems, the defense of human rights and the environment from many original and different points of view, in this way, promoting a critical cinema that contributes to social transformation.
The International Human Rights Film Festival, is keeping its eyes on films with a particular social interest and is incorporating Networking as the core concept of this edition: Networking and connecting identities. In this way, the new platforms of communication reach a collective constructive space where individuals connect through their similarities and necessity despite cultural and geographic distances.
Uniting a variety of formats and genres, from short films to feature length films, from documentaries to fiction, from animation to reports, the works exhibited are both national and international, they fulfill the intention of the International Human Rights Film Festival, to contribute to the construction of a Latin American identity, the value of memory and the projection of social problems throughout the world.
This 16th edition will once again be presented alongside numerous debates, photography shows, sustainable product fairs and social associations, dance shows and theatre will also contribute to the debate generated by the cinematographic program from multiple and new points of view.
What will the focus and themes of this festival be?

The uncompetitive sections of the Festival will be the following:
•Memory
• Gender
• Childhood and Youth
• Migrants
• Outlook
•FINCA- the environment
• Native towns
The official competition is divided into:
• International competition of Feature-length films
•International competition of Medium and Short length films
• The competition of National Documentaries

Who organizes the International Human Rights Film Festival?
The International Human Rights Film Festival is an initiative from the Instituto Multimedia DerHumALC-IMD (Human Rights in Latin America and the Caribbean) it is an association that does not have a lot of money, based in Buenos Aires, created in order to strengthen the investigation, the study, the teaching and the promotion of Human Rights material, through the use of audiovisual resources and new technologies.
The IMD has undertaken 15 editions of this festival and 2 of the International Environmental Film Festival (FINCA), that took place recently in July 2014. It is also a founding member of one of the most important Festival networks for Human Rights: the Human Rights Film Network.
