Juries // Feature Films Official Competition

Carlos A. ''Gandhi'' González

From 1987 to the present, he has been Head of Cultural Extension of the newspaper Página/12, and producer of several artistic and cultural undertakings in the fields of cinema, music, theater, plastic arts and poetry. In the 80’s he was member of the Human Rights Department of the Servicio Paz y Justicia (Service Peace and Justice) in Argentina, directed by Nobel Peace Prize winner Adolfo Pérez Esquivel.

 
 

Lucía Cappozo

She is a sociologist, journalist and cultural agent. She’s on charge of the Institutional Relations of the Caras y Caretas Group. She currently works as a journalist for Radio Nacional. She’s a member of the founding team of the Latin American Forum of the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She’s also a communications consultant and organizer of events pertaining to the Italian community.

 
 

Lucía Puenzo

Lucia Puenzo was born on 1976. She is a film writer and director. XXY, her first movie, won the Critics Week Grand Prize at Cannes Film Festival 2007 and a Goya Prize for Best Foreign Movie. Her second movie, The Fish Boy, opened the Panorama section at Berlinale 2009. The third, Wakolda, was a candidate at the official section of the Cannes Film Festival.

 
 

Mariela Pugliese

She is part of the Comunity Radio FM Bajo Flores. She studied History at the U.B.A (Buenos Aires University) but life led her to different paths. She currently presides the FARCO (Argentine Forum of Comunity Radios), offers Workshops on radio broadcasting for teenagers, and together with other colleagues conducts Flores Silvestres (Wild Flowers), the program which names the radio’s platform on genre.

 
 

Pedro Zurita

A filmmaker both by vocation and profession who has worked in every stage of film production. He is the founding director of New York’s ‘Videoteca del Sur’.
He wrote a book called Cómo distribuir su filme y no morir en el intento - How to distribute your film without dying in the attempt - which was originally published in Spanish and translated to Italian. Zurita has been judge and producer of several international film festivals. At present, he is editing a new book on distribution and another one on Latin American filmmakers.

Gastón Chillier

Gastón Chillier is the Executive Director of the Center for Social and Legal Studies (CELS) since 2006. From 1994 and 1998, before his post graduate studies, he was a legal specialist in police violence at CELS. Currently he is Co – President of the INCLO, the International Network of Civil Liberties Organizations. He is a board member of the Center for Justice and International Law (CEJIL).

 
 

Lita Stantic

With a great artistic career -forty years in the Argentinean film industry-, she started as director of short-films and now she produces feature films for well-known directors. Since 1997, she has encouraged and supported, as producer, the work of young filmmakers. Many of her films have been internationally acknowledged and awarded in prestigious festivals.

 
 

Ricardo Manetti

He holds a degree in Arts (issued by the UBA - Buenos Aires University) and he is a University Professor at the UBA, the IUNA (Argentine National University Institute on Arts), the San Antonio de los Baños University (Cuba) and the Complutense University of Madrid and of Seville (Spain). He is the creator and general director of the three first editions of the BAFICI Festival (Buenos Aires International Independent Film Festival), and he is also a theatre producer. He won the INADI (Argentine National Institute Against Discrimination, Xenophobia and Racism) and the Roberto Jáuregui awards because of the cultural actions he conducted for the defense of Human Rights.

Carmen Guarini

Movie maker, Anthrophologist and PhD on Anthropology Cinema (University of Nanterre, France, under the direction of Jean Rouch).
She is an Investigator for the CONICET (Argentine National Comitee of Cientifics and Technical Investigations), professor of Visual Anthrophology at the University of Buenos Aires and Magister in Documentary Film from the University Film Fundation and the EICTV (Intenational Film and Television School) in Cuba. Founder and co-director of DocBuenosAires Festival and Market.

 
 

Luis González Zaffaroni

Chief Executive of DocMontevideo. Holder of a degree by the Uruguayan Film School, he also holds a Master’s degree in documentary-making from Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona). He’s a member of the Advisory Council of the TAL Network (acronym for Televisión América Latina) since 2010. He was content adviser for TevéCiudad and coordinator in the Viewfinder summon for Al Jazeera in Latin America. He acted as judge for several festivals.

 
 

Rodrigo Vila

Rodrigo H. Vila graduated from ORT University. He works as a film director and producer, and he makes documentaries, motion pictures and television shows. He is the Director of the International Forum Doc Meeting Argentina. His films won awards and were presented in several international festivals. He was also invited to be judge in film festivals.

Alfredo ''Fredy'' Friedlander

He has a PhD in Chemistry and he is a film critic. He is the film coordinator in Leedor.com. He also has been hosting Cine Club Núcleo since 2003 and he was a film presenter in “Cinefilia” radio show (from 2005 to 2011). Friedlander has been to every Cannes Film Festival since 1988. He was part of the BAFICI Film Festival as a judge from the Asociación de Cronistas. In addition, he worked as a correspondent of the “International Film Guide” from 1999 to 2012.

 
 

Luis Kramer

Luis Kramer studied Law and Social Sciences and graduated from the University of Buenos Aires; he also has an MBA on NGOs from the University of Palermo, Argentina. He worked as an actor from 1978 to 1984, and he has worked as the radio producer and director of the radio show Cinefilia since 1997. In addition, he works as a critic for the webpage Leedor.com.

 
 

Tomás Lipgot

A film director and producer, Tomás Lipgot was born in Neuquén, Argentina. He is the founder of the Duermevela film production company which made 10 short films and 5 feature films (Casafuerte, Fortalezas, Ricardo Becher Recta Final, Moacir and El árbol de la muralla).
All his films were presented in over 80 international film festivals, received positive reviews and won several awards.

 
 

Juries // Art students from the Faculty of Philosophy and Literature - UBA

Mara Guevara

Mara Guevara is an advanced student of the Arts B.A. in the UBA’s faculty of Philosophy and Literature (University of Buenos Aires). She also is an Art teacher for Secondary, Tertiary and University levels. In 2012, she was chosen to enter the contest “Memoirs of the future”, official selection of BACI, an Italian Film Festival in Buenos Aires. Nowadays, she teaches the extracurricular course “Digital Revolution” in UBA’s faculty of Philosophy and Literature.

 
 

Alejandro Olivera

Alejandro Olivera is an advanced student of the Combined Arts B.A. and the Arts Teacher Training course in the UBA’s faculty of Philosophy and Literature (University of Buenos Aires). He teaches as Adjunct Professor in the course Film’s Aestethics and Cinematographic Theory. He has participated in different national and international events as assistant and as speaker. He has taken many courses related to theory, artistic practice, political formation and cultural management.

 
 

Laura Contreras

Laura Contreras teaches courses and seminars about Films, Pre-films and the articulation of media with popular culture. She is currently finishing her Arts B.A. in the UBA (University of Buenos Aires). She also trains professionals in CePa (Training for teachers), AAMNBA (Friends’ association of the National Museum of Fine Arts in Buenos Aires) and in several Film Festivals.
